The CXM-10 interface module adds another four serial communication ports to a CFE-20 module. It is interfaced via the system backplane to the CFE-20 module within one CFE group.

The module has been designed with increased redundancy using two independent DUART (dual universal asynchronous receiver transmitter) components. All serial ports support RTS/CTS handshake modem control.

The CXM-10 module is compatible with standard serial I/O software library functions of the CFE-20 and therefore all four serial channels can be used by any software application implemented in a CFE-20.

The module is automatically detected after system startup and any possible malfunction of a DUART is being reported to the system database.

The front panel accommodates diagnostics LEDs for:

• Module power
• Run/Fail status for each DUART
• TX/RX data traffic of each serial port

The termination module CXT-10 provides field connectivity for the serial ports. In addition all ports are 2.5 kV optically isolated.
