The system rack RAK-10 accommodates all front-end system modules of the WebCAN substation monitoring and control system. It provides electrical connectivity between all active and passive modules in the rack. Common system signals are routed to all modules. Module specific signals are restricted to specific module groups.

Active modules are inserted from the front of the bin and passive modules are inserted from the rear of the bin. The backplane also divides the rack into

• 1 front compartment for active modules
• 1 rear compartment for passive modules

The integrated backplane PCB is designed for high isolation between primary power input and individual modules in the rack.

The rack accommodates various groups of modules with different system functions. The slot positions for each functional group are fixed and modules belonging into a specific group can only be plugged into a designated slot position.

The module socket position is different for each group and only allows modules of the same group to be inserted into a slot, preventing incorrect installation.

Having all wiring on the rear allows for an uncluttered access to all active modules from the front.
