See the PIS-10 NAVIGABLE On-line API Documentation (will open in another window) to understand the protocol stack's Modules, Functions, and Data Structure descriptions as well as using the Examples.

The PIS -010 is an implementation of the IEC 61850 protocol stack and allows users to integrate a Server or Client into their own applications easily. PIS-10 is a Cross platform 61850 stack allows adding 61850 support to SCADA, EMS and Substation Control software applications over a range of platforms.

Supported Platforms

  • Microsoft Windows XP, 2003/2008 and Vista
  • Ubuntu Linux (x86,x86-64)
  • Embedded Linux (ARM, Coldfire)
  • Beck @Chip SC1x3 RTOS
  • Other platforms available on request

Features

  • ANSI-Standard C Source Code.
  • Configured via SCL file.
  • Minimal user inteface design.
  • Designed for embedded devices.
  • Event driven stack. No need to poll for data, reducing CPU load.
  • Can be implemented with Real Time Operating System (RTOS).

SystemCORP also offers their engineering services to assist you in adding IEC 61850 to your product.

The PIS-10 IEC 61850 API product was used in the WebCAN Substation Monitoring and Control System product that has passed KEMA test certification. Please see the PIS-10 IEC 61850 Stack Functions that were used in the WebCAN Substation Monitoring and Control System.

Specifically, for your plan to develop an IEC 61850 application you need define:

First, the product platform:

  1. Is it a hardware specific application (e.g. ARM, Coldfire, Power PC)?
  2. Are you using Linux on your product platform?
  3. Are you planning to use a Window's PC platform (IEC 61850 DLL)?
  4. Are you planning to use a Linux x86 PC platform?
  5. Do you prefer to use the IEC 61850 Single-chip solution (Beck-IPC microcontroller)?

Second, Do you require MMS only (Lite), or MMS with Publisher/Subscriber, GOOSE, Reports, Logging and Sample Values (eXtended)?

Third, Do you need Server only, Client only, or a Server/Client application?
