In recent years energy grids around the globe have become more intelligent and distributed. Developing efficient monitoring and control processes for a growing number of distributed energy resources (DERs) becomes a priority in the industry. Examples of DERs are distributed generation, distributed storage, electric vehicles with demand response applications organised in micro grid systems.
At the DistribuTech Conference 2017 conference in San Diego, our partner Intel showcased a number of newly designed Smart Grid Development Tools which aim at product developer for a new generation of smart grid components capable for efficient management of DERs and other smart grid components at lower operational costs.
The NovTech IoT Octopus development platform is an IEC 61850-9-2LE development and reference platform designed by SystemCORP, Intel with technology partners NovTech and Flexibilis.
The platform combines a SystemCORP IEC 61850-9-2LE sampled value publisher with Ethernet redundant HSR/PRP protocols and a complete analogue front-end with A/D conversion for secondary voltage and current transformer circuits typically used in a substation application.
